ELECTRIFICATION IS JUST ONE STEP
Switching to electric propulsion will not solve climate change itself. "The evidence is clear that we cannot put all our faith in electric cars — we need a more fundamental shift in how we get around, and we have much to gain from this," said Jools Townsend, chair of the Sustainable Transport Alliance.
RETHINKING OF MOTORING
Humanity sooner or later must rethink the concept of motoring to save the planet and maybe the joy of driving. Zero-emission is a reasonable goal for a metropolis but has little relevance to the Earth. We should also approach carbon-neutrality, but unfortunately, that is more like a fairy tale today. What can we do then?
COMPLEX APPROACH
We need to drop all sandbags from the current car concept. The real solution is a car with radically lower weight and fewer parts. 4-5 times smaller weight with an eco-friendly engine result in a 4-5 times more sustainable car. So if one can drastically simplify today's cars, going back to their roots, that might keep the function and joy of driving.
